Abstract: We present an a priori error analysis for the residual free bubble method applied to diffusion--convection equations with a dominating and antisymmetric convection operator. The approach is applicable to general classes of underlying conforming FEM and differs from the, up to now only known, recently published one. Especially, an error bound is derived in a norm that includes a stabilization term in streamline direction.
