Shuxing Li mit Kirkman-Medaille ausgezeichnet
Dr. Shuxing Li, gegenwärtig Humboldt-Stipendiat in der AG Diskrete Mathematik, wurde mit der Kirkman-Medaille 2018 des Institutes of Combinatorics and its Applications (ICA) ausgezeichnet. Die Kirkman-Medaille ist eine von vier Medaillen, die vom ICA vergeben werden, sie wird für herausragende Leistungen an Nachwuchswissenschaftler, deren Promotion höchstens vier Jahre zurückliegt, verliehen.
Die Medaillenübergabe fand kürzlich im Rahmen der CanaDAM-Konferenz in Vancouver statt. Shuxing Li erhielt seine Auszeichnung von Prof. Dr. Doug Stinson, Präsident des ICA. Die Laudatio:
Dr. Shuxing Li has made significant contributions on a numberof central problems in algebraic coding theory, discrete geometry, combinatorial design theory, and information theory. He applies deep theory and powerful tools to answer fundamental questions, not only in combinatorics but also in practical digital communications applications such as coding, compressed sensing, and energy minimization. The excellence of his PhD thesis was recognized by prizes from Zhejiang University and from Zhejiang Province. He has published more than twenty papers in prestigious mathematics and electrical engineering journals, conducting a remarkable breadth of research.
